I have two male dogs and live in a rented carpeted apartment and with on of the dogs being prone to marking so having this is more of a neccessity than anything else.
I really like the way it works, doesn't over soak the carpet, and it's large water resevoir helps do larger areas without multiple stops. I have noticed that it works much better if the heater is on and I use very hot tap water when filling.
I pair this with the Spot Bot so I haven't, and probably won't need to use the attachments but this cleaner does a very good job. The only thing I don't like it that pet hair seems to collect in the brush area, you cannot easily remove the brush or the shield to clean the hair so cleaning the machine after use can take a while. But that's pretty much the only negative I have on this.

I recently purchased the Bissell 8910W ProHeat and I am extremely happy with this product. I've struggled for several years now to keep my stairs clean. The carpet throughout the upstairs, and on the stairs is a light beige which turns very ugly when it's dirty and the stairs in particular are very hard to clean. With the upholstery tool and the pet tool that comes with this unit, my stairs look almost like they did when we moved here. We live in the country and have kids and countless animals (not the other way around thank goodness), and the carpet really suffers. Until I can afford to replace it, I can rely on this cleaner to do a great job removing stains and dirt deep down. They also make some excellent shampoos now.
I use a Dyson to vacuum up the carpet before I use the cleaner but it still removes pet hair and lots of dirt that has been ground into the carpet. This cleaner is easy to use and the tanks are simple to empty and refill. The unit is heavy duty and sturdy and it seems to be a workhorse, for me anyway. I love it. We just got a new puppy and I have had great luck with any accidents that have occurred.
All in all, I am so surprised at how well this carpet cleaner works. I am So happy I purchased it. It's hard work to clean all the rooms, but they sure look and smell great after a good cleaning, and this Bissell does the job, and for that, I am very happy with my ProHeat. The heater keeps the water hot as I shampoo which helps to get the dirt and gunk up off the carpet, leaving it nice and new looking.
An FYI about the sprayer problem that I've read in some reviews, the soap can clog up the hoses according to some users. In order to stop this from occurring, after you use the shampooer, you can flush the lines with warm water and clean them out.
***I had to change my rating after my wonderful cleaner stopped working! So sad, I really liked this cleaner but the hoses stopped working and then my husband tried to fix and the last time I tried it, water gushed all over the floor and made a huge disastrous mess. This was a great cleaner, but I guess over several months they have a tendancy to stop working correctly. Great when they work, awful when they stop working in less than a year of owning.

I used this about 3 times before it broke. The cleaner no longer releases soap from the container so you are basically just rinsing the carpet unless you dump the soap right into the larger bucket portion each time you refill the water. Waste of money if you ask me. The manual does not show how problem solve to see if this is a quick fix or major issue. No way to repair it.
